I found my old tapes 88/365

I threw about 2/3 of them out. eliel took the Beatles and Black Sabbath, and I saved the Jethro Tull, Peter Gabriel and Bob Marley. I grabbed my only cassette player, I've had it for 22 years ever since walking through Kmart and spontaneously buying it. Popping in 'So', I hit play and waited through the pops, the hiss, the left and right channels fading in and out- til I noticed that the sound was not producing and one of the spindles wasn't turning. this is the tape owners nightmare, I knew exactly what to expect when I hit the eject button. spagetti string of tape wound up into the spindles. I was not as concerned as I might have been before cds. but I wanted it to work. I wanted to hear that old sound. so on to cds or to take a peek behind the aged plastic into the cogs wheels and frail rubberbanbs?

February 2009

In February (2nd) I took a mid-day hike up in the Simi hills and shot photos for a future movie/slideshow (that I may never actually do) on hiking and overcoming obstacles.

On the 4th, my legs were hurting so I took a 1.5 mile hike on the "Top of the Santa Susana Loop" as I've called it (I don't know the name if there is one). It was a nice hike and parts of it were on the old Santa Susana Pass and the Newer (but still old) Santa Susana Pass. One was stagecoach and one was the newer road until the present pass road was built. I met with Jen and Janel for lunch at Jack-in-the-Box.

Trebor got his braces on the 5th.

Janel and Shea photoshoot on the 10th for "Manipulators 1" shot. UntitledHere is the final shot for Manipulators 1

this series stems from not only personal experiences with manipulating persons, but seeing other people go through hell from controlling personalities. More here http://robherrphotography.blogspot.com/

I actually outdid Jennifer for once on Valentines Day. Woohoo! She is much more considerate and conscientious than I am. I had printed a bunch of pictures off at Costco, and less than half of them printed out.

In the afternoon I gave away the Brown Bronco to a friend that needed to get his going. It was and is a good vehicle. I've found that it is very hard for me to get rid of things that have value (even if its only to me). This was easier because I knew that it would be put to good use. Throwing away useful things is most difficult...

Pryce, Trebor, Devyn and Jordan were out filming their Rated R version of a war scene (Pryce literally loses his head in the film) on the 14th. It was for Pryce's school class. We left and just made it to Bryan's baptism.

On the 16th We helped Janel move out of her storage unit into her new place. Trebor was there the whole day and was a good sport at spending his free day. Moving in the rain!

17th Youth Duct Tape Fashion Show.

20th, the kids were all out at different places,Burger Joint 81/365
so we took Jaden to In-N-Out Burger.

21st, we went to the Oxnard Food Share, then gave Rich a haircut

23rd went to CEC in TO to celebrate Jaden's B-Day. He turns 7 on Friday, but with scouts, school, and whatever else happened on Thursday there was no time...

24th was the Youth Temple trip. Eliel's first. It was a good turnout.

25th set up the studio for a
shoot and my models
(Amanda Baylie Brown)
bailed on me. So I found
a drama student (Tracy) and a photo student (Daniel)
and did the shot in all of about 6 minutes.

26th went snowboarding at Snow Valley. Jaden spent most of the time goofing off and then taking a nap in the afternoon. He did go down the slopes twice, and was improving before he had enough.

27th was Blue and Gold / Bridging for Cubs,

and the 28th, we planted a tree up at the Sinaloa building.

January 2009

I had hoped that I would be able to keep up to date and closer to the actual events as they occurred this year. So far I am keeping with my patterns of being after-the-fact and relying on a bad memory to reconstruct the what and where. So, I'll start with January, as Jen and I went to Lompoc, CA for our anniversary. It was a nice time, and we were able to visit with some old friends and see the old places that we enjoyed when we lived there. We went to the Getty, which Jennifer tolerated well. I need to go only to the places that I want to see there. There's so much to see and never enough time.

On the 5th was our first trip to Dland of the year...

12th, I made this mosaic at Madera WT. (insert link later, which means maybe never)

16th, a car hit a fire hydrant. Jen and I went to Red Robin, then she got a haircut. I had to go to the bathroom badly...

20th we met at BajaFresh.

22nd I tested the photo studio lighting setup.

23rd, there was a drug deal going on across the street.

24th, Jen and I went to ElTorito. I took shots of Eliel's haircut and Jen's braces.

On the 26th, I met with Janel and Shea at the Moorpark Library to do a photoshoot for an upcoming assignment. I shot about 800 shots, using 450 of them for a movie that I compiled here. Untitled

On the 30th we took a hike and camped on the top of Mt. Pinos in the snow. Matt B. and his Dad, James C., Nathan B., Pryce, trebor, Eliel, and I were up there, the blog is here.

Jaden seemed like he needed attention and some one on one, so we went to the park. I realized how out of shape he his (partially his diet), but mostly from inactivity throughout the day.
