We chose option 3, 1 Nephi 2-4; getting the brass plates. In first Nephi chapter 2 vs 16 thru 17 we discussed as a group what Nephi did that helped him not to rebel like his brothers did. One of the things that Nephi did was he had a desire to know, although it's not said whether Laman and Lemuel also had a desire to know, Laman and Lemuel did not get the same confirmation that Nephi did. One of the reasons for this, is the next part which is that Nephi prayed and asked Heavenly Father for knowledge. To keep our cells from Windling in unbelief, we need to ask how many father through prayer if the things that we are learning and hearing are or are not true. One of the things on scripture reading , that I found from the first week was that over the last few years my scripture reading has barely been scratching the surface. I have read through the Book of Mormon and Bible cover to cover in the last year, and did not delve deep into questions or thoughts. I have noticed also that sometimes when I am reading I will be reading line by line, but be thinking about something else that needs to be done or some other daydream. I want to get to the point where I can read and feast upon the Scriptures, rather than just be skimming lightly over them. There have been times many times in my life, that I have been able to feast upon the words in the scriptures and gain deep understanding knowledge and faith from them. I look forward to been able to utilize this class as my impetus for deeper scriptural and spiritual understanding.
